The Rescue was dispatched just after 9AM   to the intersection of the Carlisle Pike @ Hempt Road to assist Silver Spring units (New Kingstown & Silver Spring)  with  as a vehicle accident ~  dump truck vs. tanker truck. While en route County advised that the  tanker,  carrying a full load of gasoline, was leaking heavily.  Co. 33 (New Kingstown) attempted to contain the spill and prevent it from hitting the storm drain but were unable to do so due to the flow rate.  The Cumberland County SHOT Team (HAZMAT)  and many other resources were called to assist with the spill cleanup.  R27 provided manpower, helped with ventilation &  fire protection services.  Along with R30 (Hampden), both crews stabilized the fuel tanker by using cribbing, 30's heavy duty airbag, and our Para Tech struts.  E25 (Monroe) & E45 (Carlisle) were called for  foam application.  Both drivers were transported to the hospital by EMS.  Units cleared around 1900.  Photos Coming Soon!

2 Alarm Building Fire

Silver Spring Twp.

Co.'s 33, 31, 27, 28, 30, 40, 41 & 45

Company 27 responded to a working commercial building fire in Silver Spring Twp. on North Locust Point Rd. just up the road from Station 33.  First arriving units from the NKFD had a well involved garage.   Crews were forced to battle the blaze from the  exterior due to the steel frame construction of the building & the amount of fire upon arrival.  E127 then laid 1,300 feet of  5" supply line to E133 while R27 supplied man power, filled numerous cylinders, and provided fire ground support.  For pictures from the NKFD click here!
